Lately I have been in this mode of trying to look more my age. 24. I have always liked the idea of buying clothes that look older and more mature, but haven't gone into the stage of mind until now. This weekend I let myself buy more clothes to add to my lessening wardrobe and I can say they are all pieces of clothes I wouldn't normally buy. In the past year I have lost almost 30 pounds, I can't even believe it, and so I have had to let go of a lot of the clothes I have been holding on to. For the past few months most the clothes I wear I am drowning in and I just look frumpy, so this time I told myself to buy nice flattering clothes that I could wear on any occasion. For the first time in years I was also excited to try on new clothes. I went from an XL-L shirts to now M and sometimes even an S. I never imagined that day would come. I have also gone from a size 13 pant to a size 7. It still blows my mind since I don't see that much of a difference when I look in the mirror. Anyways, to the point, today I wore one of my first new outfits of the new slimmer and mature me.
Shirt: The Gap.
Cardigan: Forever 21.
Jeans: Levi's.
Sandals: Birkenstocks.
Necklace: Tiffany's. A necklace I rarely take off given to me by my boyfriend.
Watch: Nixon.
Earrings: My mother :) Real pearls.
A few months ago my mother let me go through her jewelry box and take things she didn't want anymore. Inside there was a pair of pearl earrings unlike any I had ever seen before. They were the same true shape, not cut into the regular pearl shape, and I thought they were magnificent.
I am proud today to say I feel like I look like a lady.... this is something I can and will get used to.
