The life I live....

I'm a music lover who at the end of the day wants to feel as if she lived that day the best she could. Creating an amazing meal, hanging out with the amazing people I call friends, rocking out to some amazing tunes, buying a great piece of clothing or wearing bright pink lipstick..... Im optimistic about life and highlighting the moments that make it unique....

The blonde to the dark....

What are people's thoughts on light hair with extremely dark eye brows? Can I tell you how I feel about it??? LOVE IT! To me this is the epitome of glam and fashion. It's out there and really causes you to look twice.

I think it's so beautiful and so daring. It's just so sexy.
A makeup move I have been trying to make lately, which is new to me, is using a brow pencil. It defines your eyebrows and gives them this darker and more powerful look.
I would like to buy a brow pencil a little darker than the one I have and see if I can achieve this look. I don't want to look like a clown, so I won't buy black but I am thinking something a long the lines of a dark brown.....

Today I tried with the color " taupe. " I think I need something darker to achieve this double take look....

Take it into the night....

You can easily make an outfit you wore during the day, your night on the town outfit as well. All you have to do is add a few more accessories and migrate in some darker colors....

I decided to keep on the light pink flowy shirt and my amazing white jeans, but mixed in a dark blue blazer, another clothing item I have always wanted and finally gave in to, some pearls and dark eye shadow. I also wiped my lips with another favorite nude color, but a few shades lighter....

Remember ladies, you don't always have to change into another outfit.... Save it for another occasion :) Have fun tonight and turn some heads!

Sparkle time....

I had to share this outfit because it's probably one of my most favorite ones I wear. It's girlie and I love wearing light colors. I kind of feel like a rockstar every time I rock it....

If you don't know me, I love sparkly things. I don't like to talk about it often since I am 24 and my obsession should have changed by now but I do gravitate to sparkle like a moth to a flame..... I don't give in often to sequins but I bought a jacket not too long ago that I loved. I had to have it.

I think it just add's something to any outfit I wear it with. Glam.
When I do wear light colors I love to pair the ensemble with turquoise highlights. Earrings, bracelets, necklaces..... I think they just work so wonderfully together.
The earrings were something a cherished friend of mine, Megan, made for me and I wear them all the time.... they are the perfect shade of turquoise....

I decided on a colorful pair of shoes as well, to liven up the lower half of my body. With white pants I sometimes feel that you can get washed out, so I always try to wear stand out shoes when choosing this type of pant color....
And... well... I find them adorable....
When put all together, it truly is one of my favorite outfits and I hope you get some idea's for something you can rock as well. What I have learned the older I get... is wear what you like. Don't be afraid to try new things. Don't be afraid to be different. I was a little nervous when buying this outlandish sequin sweater, but I loved it and I still love it and I'm glad that I did....It makes me happy and that's what matters :)

Last little tidbit....  Today I decided on a great darker nude lipshade. I think it offsets the brightness of my top and looks good on my skin tone when I decide not to wear any make up.

SIX ingredient teriyaki bowls.....

I love a good teriyaki bowl but I don't get to eat them very often. Most, if not all teriyaki sauces have gluten in them so they are a no no for my belly. Earlier this week I was craving, craving, craving something asian and wanted something I hadn't had in a while. We then jumped in the car and drove over to Sunflower Market. We found a great tasting teriyaki sauce ( gluten free ) and built our meal around that.

Things you will need to make this version, but of course grab any type of veggies and meat you like..... or tofu if you don't eat meat....
1) Chicken
2) Gluten Free Teriyaki Sauce
3) Water Chesnuts
4) Asparagus
5) Green Onions
6) Minced Garlic ( 1 tbs )
7) Jasmine White Rice ( 1 cup )

In a pot add 1 cup jasmine rice and 2 cups water. Let boil. When done boiling turn burner to low until done.

Pan fry the chicken in a pan on both sides with olive oil and the minced garlic until fully cooked. Once this is done cut the chicken into cubes. Add in sauce ( I eyeball it, so I can't give you an exact amount, say about a cup... ) Let this simmer for a few minutes. Cut the green onions and asparagus into smaller pieces ( your choice on size ) and then throw them in. Add water chesnuts and lets all cook together for about 10-15 more minutes. Then grab your closest bowl and pile the yummy deliciousness right in :) Yummmm!!!!!

Lemon, Oh Lemon....

I am a full on cat obsessor. Maybe too much. I think they are just hilarious and so weird. My feline friend, Lemon, yes named after the infamous "Liz Lemon" makes me laugh constantly. She is bizarre. Also, I very much believe she was a vegetarian in a previous life. She doesn't prefer meat based foods and her FAVORITE treats are black beans. Yes black beans, especially the ones from my Cafe Rio salads.....

Anyways, these are a few pics that I had to share because I laugh every time she does this....

If you love cats as much as I do, I hope you enjoy....

Polka Dot lov'n

I have actually heard some great feed back from the ladies saying how they like how I post my outfits for the day ( if I think they are cute) so once again, I'm back....with polka dots. I have always loved polka dots, but haven't always had the passion or courage to wear them with pride. They have always given me a type of "clown" idea. Not really for me. However, this weekend on my shopping spree I did find something with polka dots that I could not walk away from. Maybe it was the burnt orange color, or the "whimsical" feel it had? Either way, I bought it and I'm happy I did. I think it will add perfectly to my ever growing fall wardrobe.

I decided to pair the top with a simple white top and some black jeans. Simple, yet sophisticated. The "older" look I am trying to get into. I am a person who loves to mix and match patterns and lately I have been trying to do it more often. I used to think it was a fashion paux pas, but now that I have started finding a real pleasure at looking at fashion magazines I have realized it's okay and sometimes a must. It makes your outfit just that much more interesting.

So.... I paired them with animal print flats.

Because I felt that the top added enough excitement, I decided to pull my hair back to show off the personality of the outfit. I added a pair of leaf earrings and wahla.... off to school I go....

Thank you again everyone who decides to look at my blog. I am new at this so if you ever have any feedback, please let me know :) Thank you everyone!
