The life I live....

I'm a music lover who at the end of the day wants to feel as if she lived that day the best she could. Creating an amazing meal, hanging out with the amazing people I call friends, rocking out to some amazing tunes, buying a great piece of clothing or wearing bright pink lipstick..... Im optimistic about life and highlighting the moments that make it unique....

16 February 2012

Take it to the top.

This morning was a bit of a hurry to get ready.
Didn't get much sleep last night which is always the worst the next morning.
Late night and lying in bed with thoughts running through my mind.
To the point: I was exhausted.
This usually is the recipe for disaster, but think that I pulled myself together pretty well for the lack of brain waves I had in this early AM awakening.

Last night I tied my hair up to go to bed and decided this morning I was too lazy to change the style, not to mention getting a few more "zzzzzz's" was a little more important to me at the time.
I swear I'm not gross. I care what I look like most of the time.
This morning however I was less interested in looking "pretty" and I think the disheveled hair proved it. To help take peoples mind off the "walked right out of bed" look, I just added a blazer and scarf.
It's pretty amazing what they can do when your time is limited.

Blazer: F21. Scarf: F21. Dress: Nordstrom Rack. Shoes: Nordstrom Rack.

Sorry for the short post, but ladies and gentlemen.... I'm starving and got to get food into this belly... quick!
I hope you all have an amazing rest of your week :)

** The past does not equal the future**

Song of the night:
( I'm seeing them on Saturday at Kilby Court )
Enjoy.

LOVE.
XOXO.

February Birchbox and eats galore....

Well ladies,
I got my February Birchbox.
Thrilled?
No!
Urg, this is my problem. I love Birchbox because I love the idea.
However, almost every month I am disappointed.
I think I look forward to make up more than anything and this month wasn't up to par.
In retrospect I do think that everything I got will come in useful and truthfully everything I received I want to try. So I can't complain that much.
I'm just such a Birchbox princess.
Ignore my bratty rant.

Here is what came inside:

Eye Rock- Designer Liner. ( 4 different styles in each packet )
Juice Beauty- Green Apple Peel for Sensitive skin.
Kiehl's- Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution.
Colorscience Pro- Glow and go Travel Pull ( Color: California Girl )

Food Diaries:
PARK CAFE.
( I love all the show artwork at Park Cafe. My apartment is filled with show artwork and every time I go here I want to purchase many of the pieces in my sight. )
* I got the "Big Salad." Yeah you heard right. First off, it's a Seinfeld pun which is awesome, but in the past 7 or so years I have been going there I have NEVER, EVER seen someone order a salad. I was totally an outcast, but it was delicious. You might ask why I even got a salad at a breakfast joint? See when I am hungover ( which BTW I wish there was a better more appealing word for this ) I don't like to eat hot food. It just makes me sick so I always try ad stick with "cold" items. Don't ask, but I just wanted to try and explain myself here.... Also, most importantly, I of course got a side of park potatoes.

SQUATTERS.
Yummo! I got the greek salad with veggie burger.
It was delicious, and gluten free? I don't think so.
I have been real lazy with my gluten intolerance lately which has of course put me into a sickly daze after every meal. Why do I keep thinking it will be worth it?

THE NEW YORKER.

Daniel and I went here for our 3 year anniversary.
VERY different than anywhere we would normally go, but we decided to try it.
We went for the three course meals.
We first started out with a roasted tomato, avocado and mozzarella salad with capers. ( My favorite dish of the night.)
Then I followed my salad off with Chicken Piccata ( pretty sure not gluten free as well ) and Dan got the Fillet Mignon.
*For as long as I have dated Daniel he doesn't understand why I don't like steak. It just never has appealed to me. For years he tried to tell me once I tried a Fillet Mignon my opinion would change.
It didn't.
It was absolutely not for me. I don't like red meat at all and I don't think that will ever change.
I like chicken and turkey and that is about it ( expect my mothers pot roast?!? ) but that is it when it comes to meat. I personally would always more than not have tofu....
We ended up sharing a dessert, the Turtle Sundae but I didn't take a picture of that... I was too deep into the glass with my spoon to take the time.

DIY IDEA.
I can't remember if this is something  have shared before in the past, but I always get compliments on my jewelry holder so I thought I would share with you today.
What you will need:
-A Magnet board.
-Magnets.
-Vase.
-Bamboo Shoots.

Music.
Alabama Shakes.

So, in May I am finally going to my first music festival and this will be one of the bands who will be attending. This song is SOOOOOOO good! I listen to it on repeat with a huge smile slapped across my face. I just can't explain the love I have for this band. I'm so excited to see them in May and dance under the burning sun in my flip flops and sunglasses :)

Dots. Smile.
Beautiful Steph and I....

*******************************

Well, today is Valentines day and I hope you all have an amazing one.
Dan and I have no plans for tonight.
Neither of us have ever really been into celebrating Valentines, maybe due to the fact our anniversary is the day before?
I hope though if you have plans that they turn out amazing and romantic!!!
Have a good one :)

LOVE.
XOXO.

06 February 2012

The purpose is this....

Hey, hey hey!
Sometimes it's the hardest thing for me to blog.
I don't know what I want to write about, nor do I want to bore you with my gabber.
I wish I had something spectacular to share with you, but I really don't.
I can tell you one thing though, I can't wait to go to Sasquatch.
The line up looks amazing and the location is mind blowing.
If you don't know what Sasquatch is, it's a 4 day music festival at a location called " The Gorge."
Tickets go on sale on Saturday and I HOPE TO GOD that I am quick enough to get a ticket.
This will be the most expensive thing I will buy this year but I think it will be WELL worth it.
We will also be taking a few more days to travel in Oregon and Washington to see friends.
This I imagine will be a trip I remember for the rest of my life.
Cross your fingers!

Things I Love.
Most are quotes.
I LOVE quotes.

Random thoughts.
I'm starting to look into getting more tattoo's, but it's taking time.
For about 2 years now I have dreamt of getting a quail on my arm.
I still will, the question is when?
A quail means a lot to me.
I believe in what they stand for, which to me is loyalty.
Quails mate for life which is something I highly believe in.
I think I am so afraid to get married for the reason I never want to divorce.
I know most people don't think about this when they marry someone, but I think about it often.
People change and I can't imagine you will be the same person you are 20 years down the road.
Will that person still love the person you become? Will you still love the person they become?
To the point.. I will never see divorce as an option.
I will fight for my marriage till the day I die.
The second reason the quail means so much to me is because it reminds me of my best friends.
I was lucky enough to live in a home," The Hen Haus," with some of the most important people in my life for years.
We were blessed enough that the home we resided in was a nesting ground for quails.
I still reminisce on the times we would all gather together and watch the quails run all over the yard with their young trailing behind.
Besides being the cutest damn things I have ever witnessed, its a time in my life that I want to remember forever, and yes, I want to represent that time in my life on my body forever.

I also would like to get the quote:
on my ribcage....( in time )
This is the quote I live by and I really, truly believe that everything does happen for a reason.
Bad things. Good things.
I believe we learn from each and every second that happens in our lives and I believe in it more and more the older I get.

Lastly,
I would like to finish my one and only tattoo I have on my body.
A sand dollar located on my foot.
This tattoo represents to me where I came from, California, and my love for the sea.
I don't think I love anything as much as the sea and the creatures that reside in it.
I would like to finish it off by adding the doves located inside the sand dollar itself.
Most people don't know this,
but if you open up a sand dollar there are what most call "doves" inside of it.
It's pretty amazing....

Super Bowl.
All you have to know....... It went VERY well.
I was full 10 minutes into arriving and didn't stop eating till I was walking out of the door.
The second best day to eat besides Thanksgiving.
My game questionnaire.
I rocked it, but didn't win.

Work Gloves.
Really love the purple!

Pink Lipstick with Platinum Blonde Hair.
Not the best choice.
Feeling a bit too "Barbie."
I'm thinking I will have to hold of on the bright pink lipstick for a bit....
Not sure I can rock it as much as I would hope....

Outfit choice of the day.
Shirt: F21. Cardigan: Kohls. Necklace: TJMaxx. Pants: F21. Shoes: Rock Candy.

Well, so long everyone.
I hope you have a lovely rest of your Monday.
We only have 4 more days left to go till the weekend :)

Love.
XOXO.

Stage Five CLINGER....

Tuesday.
Spent a lot of time with family.
Every time I get to spend time with my family I always realize how lucky I am.
I don't get to see everyone often, and when I do I feel blessed.
And cursed.
Kidding :)

Sunday night my sister asked my father if he could take my nephew's to school on Tuesday.
This being my day off and not having much homework I decided I would offer myself up for the challenge.
I don't do enough for my sister.
I always tell myself I will and wish I could, but somehow life always gets in the way.
So, she excepted my offer and immediately I realized I wouldn't be able to sleep in at all this week.
See, Tuesdays I usually let myself sleep in till about nine.
Every other morning I have to wake up at 7, so it's nice.
My sister told me I would have to be at her house by 7:30, so again another 7 am wakeup.
I didn't have time to make myself any coffee so I grabbed one at the closest place I could stop
McDonalds.
Extreme disappointment.
Honestly, I'm not shocked, but how can you mess up coffee?
Well, actually you can.
I think the older I get the more of a coffee snob I become and I think this is due to the fact that with my gluten allergy I can't really consider myself a "beer snob" anymore.... SADLY!
I can't stand coffee that isn't strong enough or doesn't have enough taste.
It's like how Jerry Seinfeld explains cough medicine:
"Figure out what will kill me and then back it off a little bit."
That's how I feel about coffee and trust me, I'm disappointed often, but not this bad.
The point I'm trying to get across.... don't buy a coffee from them
Being a dollar, I think this explains enough.

So anyways, back to the story.
I get to my sisters home and both my nephews are sprawled on the couch waiting for my arrival.
You can tell they were excited for school and it being as early as it was.
My oldest nephew Ozzly is always such a help.
He does everything he can to help me when I am around and I am so thankful because me not having my own child to experiment on, I don't always know the best or easiest way to do certain child things.
So we got all the bags in the car, the car seat, etc...
And off we went.
Ozzly was first.
When we dropped him off, he jumped on his skateboard in front of his school and skated off to class.
What a cute kid. I can't tell you enough.

Now, Jameson, my younger nephew didn't have to be till school till 11.
So I had all morning with him.
All he wanted to do was go to the "bookstore" which is in reality the library.
I had to convince him to eat his breakfast and wash his face before we could venture to the "glass walled building" as I called it, which he kept repeating time and time again.
"Aunt Hewee, where is the glass wall?"
So cute.
We went to the library and we got him some new books and movies to exchange for the ones he had previously gotten a few days prior.
He was delighted.
He also loved the stairs into the parking garage.
I told him where we parked was the "cave" of the "bookstore" because it was underground.....
He really liked playing with me on that idea.....

Another random comedian thought that popped in my head was this Lewis CK bit.
Lewis CK in his new stand up ( hilarious!!!! ) talks about how children who aren't given enough attention from their parents will cling to other people whom are having fun with children.
This happened to me and it made me laugh again and again thinking of Lewis CK and this joke.
When we were at the library, Jameson and I, the first child I saw was a stage five clinger.
Just followed us two around like a shadow and showed me every movie and book I should take home.
Of course I wasn't disgusted like the infamous CK, but I did keep having the thought...
"where is your mother? why am I having to walk around and clean up the mess your child is making in the library?"
He was a cute and fun little thing, but please parents keep an eye on your children.
What if I were a child stealer, it would have been easy to take him... and I would have.
He was that cute.
To end this... I dropped Jameson off at eleven and off I was to my mothers.

My mother.
She is a whole 'nother story.
Boy oh boy!
She threw her back out the other day trying to carry something extremely heavy she knew at that time she shouldn't have tried to attempt to lift.
So I went to her house to help her out with her house duties and just to hang out and laugh.
So.... about an hour after I get there she deiced that she was going to get a detail in her car...
Again to shorten the story, while in the process of the cleaning, the car wash process, she kept rolling down her window to talk to the people operating the wash.
Ha- oh my god mother!

Not only did she have 1 million questions, she decided to ask them all at the crucial time of the wash, which in fact is the WHOLE wash, when water is surrounding the car.
"Mom!!! It's getting wet in here!!"
Some people will never learn, but I love her. She makes my day every day I see her.
I love that I can talk to her about anything and she listens and tells me what she would do if she were in my situation.
Most the time I take the advice, other times I realize our generation gap and politely turn her down..
All in all, it was a good day.

Just some tidbits....
I colored my nails.

I dyed my hair.
PLATINUM BLONDE.
Every time I look at myself I still get a little taken back by how blonde it is.
This was inspiration:
AHHHHHH! KIDDING!!!!!!

But for Realsies:

Here's my version:
Wheeewweeeee, it's SO blonde......
I'm sure I'm not going to keep it THIS blonde for long, but its fun and different for now.

Also, decided today I would wear my Anthropologie headband that has been in the drawer and not on my head for a good two years.
I decided I didn't like this look after it got uber popular, but screw it, now that I see the fad dying down a little bit, I decided to sport it :)

Just catching up on my reading of Time Magazine's
" Obama's World."

P.S.
Look what I learned to do on the net...
Just fun.
NBD.

New Shoes.
Fact of the matter, I don't think that I love them.
But I'm going to keep them, due to my laziness.
( P.S. my hair on my leg looks weird and the shape of my leg looks weird... I don't think it looks like that in real life...)

I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your week....
 This weekend is SUPERBOWL Sunday!!!!
Snacks!!!!
Yummm!!!!!!!
LOVE.
XOXO.
