The life I live....

I'm a music lover who at the end of the day wants to feel as if she lived that day the best she could. Creating an amazing meal, hanging out with the amazing people I call friends, rocking out to some amazing tunes, buying a great piece of clothing or wearing bright pink lipstick..... Im optimistic about life and highlighting the moments that make it unique....

Lace.

Let's start off.
Last night was a damn blast.
My friends Devon and Jake threw an AMAZING cocktail party last night.
So much fun to see people I haven't seen in years, people I saw a few days ago and people I saw a few hours prior.... and catch up over a cocktail.

Dress: F21. Tights: F21. Shoes: Tj Maxx.

This post isn't going to be very long for I am trying to recover from last night and finish watching ski films.
Truth be told - I just had way too much fun!

17 December 2011

Did I really see that?

Saturday.
The best day of the week.
You can sleep in AND stay out all night.
What day gets better than that?

Last night Daniel and I went on our first date in a while.
We both have been so busy with school, work and social activities that Daniel decided he wanted to take me out to celebrate being done with my Fall semester of school and to re-kindle.
What made it better? He even brought me home a pair of new skis!
I can't wait to get on them and make some turns.
I feel very ski deprived. I have been having dreams about skiing almost nightly, except last night where I was stuck in a flood....

Aren't they pretty? I love them!

What a girl wears....

Shirt: Gap. Necklace: TjMaxx. Belt: F21. Pants: Nordstrom Rack. Shoes: Nordstrom Rack. Earrings: TjMaxx. Watch: Ripcurl.

Daniel let me choose the restaurant and I ended up choosing Thaifoon in which neither of us had ever been. I love Thai food, it's my all time favorite type of food and had been looking at this place for awhile.
They have a HUGE GF menu so I didn't feel deprived at all.
It was so good and we will be going back.
I chose a girlie drink as my cocktail and it was a bit too sweet for me, but it was good. Let me try to recall what was in it : rum, pineapple juice, mint, and one of my favorites, Pernod.....( the family stories could go on all night regarding this specific alcohol ) but I love it.

Randomness:
I want to tell people how much I don't enjoy the holiday's in the sense of I can't' stop stuffing my face with treat after treat. I normally don't fall for sweet and surgery food items, but lately if its GF I'm eating it.... and I'm eating it all.
Also, I haven't worked full time in months and for the break I have decided to in order to make a little more money, but that's where I fall for the indulgences.
I dont' like it.
I can tell you right now, I don't feel like the same person. I have a 24/7 stomach ache and my body feels like its falling apart. I haven't made a meal in over a week due to eating out and I need to kick my ass back into shape.
What blows my mind? Is that there are people who eat like this all the time and rarely cook, who constantly scarf down sweets and don't work out. No thanks.
My body feels like a zombie and just the constant state of being sick isn't all to my liking.
How do they do it?
I have decided that starting Tuesday is when I start back to my normal life ( except for Christmas day of course.)
NOT eating out, cooking every meal. Running my miles. Drinking a gallon of water. Being locked down to the fruit and veggie bowl..... and last but not least.... NO MORE SWEETS!!!!!

Have a great rest of your weekend everyone!!!
I'm very excited for the rest of mine!
Christmas cocktail party tonight.
AND..... some of my best friends are in town!!! YAY!!!

Okay, I love the holidays :)

Love.
XOXO.

Bliss.

This has been one impeccable week I tell ya and it's only on the road of becoming better....
I have so much in store starting tonight till Monday night...
Boy, do I love the Holidays!

If you have talked to me at all this week you know the highlight of this fun filled week has been a show I attended on Tuesday at The State Room in downtown Salt Lake City.
"The Other Lives" and JBM.

The show really blew my socks off.
The venue is a little strange in the sense that it's set up like an auditorium.
There are pew seats which most people find themselves sitting in, which is not to my liking.
When we first arrived, we decided we would brave it out and do the opposite of EVERYONE else and....stand.
Then JBM came on.
In love.
He is one man who plays a plethora of instruments.
He stands there by his lonesome with his guitar in hand, drum beats from his feet and harmonica solo's from his lips.
He truly is a sight to be seen.
His last few songs, a few of the members of " The Other Lives" came on and it just turned the atmosphere completely around.
Also,
If you're wondering.....at this time, us four are still the only ones standing with a sea of people sitting behind us. Very strange feeling.

JBM:

Then.....
The Other Lives came on....
WOWZERS!
Killed it from start to finish!
They have a different rhythmic sound then anything I have heard in a while.
They have a way of just making your head bob, your feet tap and your face to share the biggest smile it can.
You just start to exude happiness.
It's such great feel good music.
If I had to compare them to anyone I would say they sound similar to "Fleet Foxes."

$40 later.....
The Other Lives T-shirt.
JBM disc.
SUPPORTING.

We then of course decided to grab a drink across the street at "The Bayou," scarf down a plate of fries and talk about how the epic show was.....

Second highlight of the week so far was last night....
The girls of my office decided to go PF Chang's and grab dinner....
It was so nice to not think about work and just share some laughs among us.

The nice thing about PF Chang's is their GF menu, not to mention they also have a gluten free kitchen dedicated to making sure nothing gets contaminated.

I decided I would order something I haven't ever had there, The Buddha Plate, and it was nothing to my liking.
The usual Buddha Plate is pan fried veggies and tofu... delicious sounding....right?
The GF version - steamed veggies, no tofu, no sauce. Um... No thanks.
I mean, does that sound appealing to you? And at $9 a plate I would rather attempt to eat the chair I was sitting on.
However, our server was amazing and so helpful.
I told her the plate wasn't anything I assumed it to be so long story short she brought me out a WHOLE new plate of Chang's Chicken ( $14 a plate ) for free :)
I enjoyed myself plenty and gave her a well deserved 5 dollar tip for a $9 check.

(wish this picture of Liz and I came out brighter, but it was romantic lighting.....)
PF Chang's is a great place for all you GF eaters....
So get on it if you can :)

P.S. Today I'm sporting "Heidi" braids....
Seems to be a great solution to untamed hair.....

Enjoy the rest of your Thursday everyone!!!!
Love.
XOXOXO.

13 December 2011

Today is a great day!
Finished my last bit of finals this morning and now all the stress is gone....
well, maybe not all the way.
The next stress is waiting to see grades.
Then, next semester.
I am going to be taking 5 classes in the Spring and I'm not going to lie, I'm frightened as all get up.

To take my mind off of school here is what I have been consuming my mind with...
1) Car dancing.
I am the queen of car dancing and I dont' care who sees me! Not to mention when I see other people car dancing it puts the biggest smile on my face. Why? Because you know at that time that person is feeling as happy as one can get, and who doesn't want to be a witness to that?
2) Cleaning my car.
Yesterday I decided I would finally take the plunge into cleaning out my car.
I drove to the car cleaners and was so happy that I was lucky enough to find two dollar bills that mysteriously appeared into my wallet.
While trying to attempt to use the vacuums the first time the machine ate my money and was a waste of a dollar :(
I then proceeded to move my car to the other end so that I could use the other vacuum which in return gave me a great clean car...
Feels good to finally get into my car and feel a sense of accomplishment that it's not filled with leaves and dirt, receipts and bags....
3) Smart Cars.
It's this simple:
There is nothing like seeing two grown overweight men in a smart car that bring me to an uncontrollable laugh.
It's a sight that needs to be seen by all.
4) Knee Socks.
Love.
5) Bangs or "Fringe."
To start off, I love when people call bangs "fringe."
I am always in between the thought of bangs and no bangs.
When I have bangs I desire long flowing bangs, when I have longer bangs I crave short blunt bangs.
I am at a loss.
I am thinking I am going to cut them again... what do you think?
Here is a pic of me with bangs....
Other ideas:

I am excited.
Tonight I am going to The State Room to see " The Other Lives."
If you haven't heard of them - get on it! They are amazing.... especially if you like folk.

Hope you all have a great rest of your Tuesday!!!!!!
Love.
XOXO.

The Truth... Revealed.

The purpose of this post it to let you in on a little secret about myself.
I'm not a fashion guru.
I mean...for goodness sakes, I don't even carry a purse, I carry a Osprey shoulder bag....
Don't get me wrong, I love fashion and I love great clothes but the truth is....
I don't dream about Prada or Gucci or spend hours beyond hours on fashion websites.
I dream about skiing, music, running trails in the mountains, good food, hanging out with my buddies....

I just wanted to take the time for you to get to know me a little bit better and share who I really am.
I LOVE :
* Food ( Gluten Free, of course )
* Trail Running.
* Music.
* Hockey.
* Good Wine.
* Cats.
* Cooking.
* Outdoors.
* Music Shows.
* Swimming.
* Laughing.
* Skiing.
* Science.

So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that my blog will be changing a little bit.
I don't want to revolve my blog around what I'm wearing, which of course I will still post about, but not every post will be about that specifically.
I am going to start posting about my life in general.

I hope that the people who do read my blog find this just as interesting, or maybe even more?
There is so much I would love to share with you, and fashion is just not all of it for me.....

You might want to know what brought this enlightenment to me today?
My outfit.
When I put it on I realized this is what I feel most comfortable in, and I shouldn't feel ashamed to blog about it because it's not "fashion."

Sweater: Nixon. Shirt: F21. Pants: Roxy. Necklace: F21. Shoes: Vans.

Now, I don't want anyone to think that I won't be sharing my "cute" outfits on days I feel like I nailed the fashion bug on the head... but I also want to show my personality in my posts... so you will see more about my life and my true style.

I hope everyone accepts :)

Love
XOXO.
